AP Forensics® software saves public sector £10m per annum

Fiscal Technologies supports the public sector in cutting costs without losing jobs.

Reading – 31 January 2011 – FISCAL Technologies, providers of world-class accounts payable audit software have reported a 100% increase in the number of public sector organisations using its solutions in the last six months. To a large extent, this result can be explained by public sector authorities trying to meet the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review targets.

FISCAL’s AP Forensics® software provides public sector authorities new ways to make immediate cost reductions without losing staff.  There are over 60 councils, 6 police authorities, 12 housing associations, and 30 NHS trusts using AP Forensics®, preventing in total over £10m of misspent funds every year.

AP Forensics® saves money straightaway by analysing historic payments looking for over spend, compliance issues and supplier fraud.  After an historical analysis, it then works in prevention mode ensuring an Accounts Payable team is protected from errors and fraudulent transactions. Often the money recovered from prior years is used to invest in existing people and processes.

Additionally, with the controversial announcement on the axing of the Audit Commission last year, many public sector organisations are also looking at ways to improve their audit controls in the payment process.  AP Forensics® provides a final layer of control and in many cases allows several existing checks to be rationalised into one. This means processes are more time efficient.
